Hello, wonderful friends and fellow dessert lovers! 🌟
It’s been a few months since my last newsletter, and I’ve been busy—but in the best way possible! I celebrated my best friend’s beautiful wedding, continued my disc golf project (yes, I’m improving my game!), and, of course, kept things rolling with my market stand and local event appearances. It’s been a whirlwind, but I’m thrilled to share all the latest with you!
New Events and Sweet Success
First, let’s talk about two fantastic events I recently attended. The first was Pasty Fest in Calumet, MI, where the theme was a renaissance fair! I had so much fun, and it was the perfect place to debut my new creation: whoopie pies! Think of these sweet sandwiches as the “pasties of cake”—cupcake tops layered with a dreamy marshmallow buttercream. They were an absolute hit! I offered them in traditional chocolate, funfetti, and a fall-favorite, pumpkin. They flew off the table, and I couldn’t be more excited about the feedback.
Next up was The End of Summer Party in downtown Hancock. For this event, I decided to create tiny cakes—adorable little bites perfect for a picnic vibe. The standout was my gluten-free, vegan chocolate strawberry layered cake. It was a crowd-pleaser! I love experimenting with specialty diet items, and with all the great gluten-free and vegan ingredients available these days, like Bob’s Red Mill flour blends and Country Crock’s avocado butter, it’s so much easier to nail the perfect texture and flavor.
Big News: Expansion & New Creative Projects
Now, for the big announcement—I’ve taken a lease at the Hancock Community Building, right next to the Hancock Green! 🎉 This new space is a huge step for my business, and it’s going to allow me to really expand on my creative process. Over the next few months, expect more decorating videos and professional photos, so you can see my work in action.
That’s not all—I’m also working on a podcast! It’s all about the history of cakes and pastries, presented through storytelling. I’m so excited to dive into the fascinating stories behind our favorite treats. Plus, I’ll be launching a connected YouTube channel for how-to videos and the video version of the podcast. If you love learning, baking, and history as much as I do, you won’t want to miss it.
Finally, I’m launching a special subscription project. Subscribers will get access to exclusive recipes, in-depth videos, and a special group where I’ll share all the tips and tricks I’ve learned throughout my career. It’s a great way to connect with me and get a behind-the-scenes look at my baking world.
